this car park isn't free after 8pm anymore the ring go app wants you to pay till midnight. ANPR controlled. toilets and bin in ajoining car park

  • 5/5

Great for a car camp/motorhome. Here on a Sunday night and only 2 other vehicles here. Not far off a genuine campsite. Toilets open till 10pm, 1/4 mile away from Cromford Village Centre for food/drinks. £6 all day then free 9pm - 8am. Large field at the back to let the kids play, close by access to the canal for walks. Easy access for the hills for hikes. Had a little controlled fire on a fire pit and wasn’t troubled. Will definitely be returning. Super quiet after 9pm, and super dark for a chilled nights sleep.

  • 5/5

stayed one night payed on the app. App says you can only stay for 24 hours signs don't tell you much price on signs say £6 app says £4 for day parking we where going to stay 2 nights but didn't fancy a £100 fine. Nice place lots of walks.

  • 5/5

Frankly this has set a high bar for places to be found on this app that I’m going to struggle to raise. Not too far off the standard of an actual campsite in many ways - the toilets are a big draw here. The views are fantastic, with the canal one side and the hills the other. We had a very peaceful night’s sleep even though there were quite a few other vans / motorhomes (and no wonder). Cheap too

  • 5/5

Super quiet when I arrived about 9pm. Toilets fairly standard and open until 10pm. There was one other campervan overnight. Lots of cars in the day. Very flat. I actually forgot to pay for the day parking but didn’t get a ticket. Phone signal was a bit iffy but okay. Would reccomend this one.

  • 5/5

lovely place to stay. great views and walks on side of canal. toilets open through day.cafes close by.price increase to £6.30

  • 5/5

great spot, pay via RingGo app for a full day (just a little unclear to me whether I needed to be awake at midnight to avoid early morning ticketing). a few other campers there even though it's -1° February. nice toilet block (open 8am-10pm April to September, and 8am-6.30pm October to March). lovely walks in the area

  • 5/5

Stayed here back in December for a night, really quiet car park with some decent toilets, couldn’t ask for much more for an over nighter. Quite a few motorhomes and camper vans here so seemed quite popular. Would definitely recommend

  • 5/5

Great stop, pay by ringo app, £6.30 a day between 0900-2000 free overnight .

  • 5/5

A fantastic overnight spot, large but nice carpark, flat and with loos that open at 8am. You have to pay using the app which is a bit of a phaff - we got charged £4.30 from 2pm to 8pm. Overnight from 8pm to 9am is free and if you fancy a lay in it’s easy to add another hour or 2. Great walks along the Cromford Canal

  • 5/5

Another great quiet night ! Easy walk to local pubs

  • 5/5

Quite night all good the pay meter broken so you have to use RingGo to pay

  • 5/5

Wo! Every now and then you come across a place that’s just perfect! Large, flat car park with toilets nearby. Next to a canal and big fields. Great for walking. Loads of sheep! Absolutely silent overnight. Highly recommend. No TV and pretty weak mobile signal. (Note there is a height barrier but it always seems to be open).

  • 5/5

Lovely view, toilets very useful, very flat, and lovely local area too! Be sure to visit the Mill and cheese shop just down the road.

  • 5/5

There are 2 car parks make sure you find the one at the back by the field (without the toilet, you can walk around to access) - Large open carpark with room for 100+ cars and FLAT. Stayed till 10am payed £1 for an hour parking 9-10, is free overnight - sheep roam nearby, didn’t see anyone overnight until 9am! 10/10

  • 5/5

Lovely parkup, plenty of space, clean toilets, sheep in the field. currently £4 all day for motorhomes, sign says ot is £6 but we spoke to parking meter guy who said they haven't updated their RingGo app payment system to reflect this yet (Sept 2024)

  • 4/5

Please don't get confused with theses carparks Cromford meadows is free from 8pm until 9am you can park overnight the toilets are not in this carpark , Bluebadge holder do have to pay to park here. Cromford wharf the one along side the canal with the toilet block in the actual carpark and does say no overnight parking. however it does say it's free to park in the day for bluebadge holders.

  • 5/5

Brilliant park up! We stayed 2 nights in September, £4.40 all day, free 8pm- 9am. Toilets open til 10pm. Can fill water bags from tap in family toilet. Large hard standing easy for our 7.5m motorhome. Quiet peaceful night. Beautiful views over meadows with sheep. 5 mins walk Cromford for pubs takeaway shops. Matlock bath/ Heights of Abraham 30mins walk or 5 mins regular bus £2 single. Fantastic.

  • 5/5

Fabulous location next to large meadows & beautiful scenery. Lovely walks along the canal. Great shops, pubs in Cromford village 5 mins walk. Cromford Mills heritage Centre & shops nearby. Large , flat hardstanding car park. Toilets, bins nearby. Free overnight. Pay from 9am to 8pm. Just returned for a second time in April 2025. Highly recommended .! The Greyhound Hotel in Village is lovely.

  • 5/5

No height restrictions, parking all day 0800-2000hrs is £4 or £6, overnight is free. Toilets open until 10pm. Shower across road ar Cromford Mill, lots of cafes/pubs nearby. Better value than in Cromford Mills car park.

  • 5/5

  • 3/5

1/2/22 Large car park. sign states no overnight parking. toilets were already locked at 19:30 when we arrived. Great car park for daytime however there is a charge. no height restrictions

  • 1/5

Been to Cromford Warf car park in past 2 days. Although a perfect spot there is now new signage stating NO OVERNIGHT PARKING

  • 4/5

Cromford Canal Parking - Spend a quiet night in pleasant surroundings with walks, town, pubs etc close by. Loos were open all night. Across the road Cromford Mills is more shady so probs great in summer months. Out of season I paid £4 for 24 hours, but in summer vans and campers are £9 for overnight stays. If staying between 5pm and 8am overnight is free in winter. WiFi signal was very poor.

  • 4/5

Quiet night, had the car park to ourselves. Toilets were open.

  • 4/5

be aware if you park near toilet block end on a Saturday night there's a catering trailer comes in Sunday morning. he's not the most pleasant of chaps .we had to move and he got council to us reported us for not having paid which of course we had .other than that lovely scenery.

  • 5/5

Stayed in Cromford Wharf car park last night. Noticed that at this time of year it is free between 17:00 - 09:00. Nice and quiet with only two other vans parked up. OKish 4G signal (Vodaphone).

  • 4/5

Stayed 2 nights and it was a great location to use as a base to visit Matlock Bath and the Heights of Abraham. The toilets were very handy though I don't think they're cleaned very often. The nights were quiet and we had a lovely view of the canal.

  • 5/5

There appears to be some confusion amongst the comments as there are four separate car parks on Mill Rd. Free overnight parking, £4.80 during the day, toilets 8 - 8 and no height barrier are all to be found at Cromford Wharf car park next to canal, on the RIGHT as you drive down from A6. The second car park Cromford Mills (on left) is signed as no overnighting and more expensive during the day.

  • 5/5

Great spot! The guy who lives in the house is a bit miserable but ‘hey ho’. Stayed here a few times and never had any problems. Highly recommend!

  • 5/5

Quiet carpark with toilets which is free from 20:00 to 08:00 by the canal path and counting house coffee stop. There are a couple of no restriction bays on the road outside that I parked in during the day but you could stay in the carpark for just £4.80 per day. Both car park and no restriction bays were plenty big enough for my 6.5m long motorhome.

  • 5/5

Absolutely beautiful place and in the mill courtyard where the toilets are is the shower free to use and exceptionally clean. no key needed to access them. Car park free for disabled or £1.80 for 3 hours. Be careful make sure you use the mill car park and not the lower one which is bigger but costs more. The rugby club is through the large car park through double gates.

  • 5/5

This is an excellent stay. Great cafe to eat drink tea coffee etc loverly walks really clean toilets and sinks totally recommend it

  • 4/5

Just arrived at this car park, seems fine. The Canal Side car park machine only takes cash. Parking on other side of road takes card but is £9 for the day. The rugby club next door is cheaper but they have had to put up a hight restriction barrier because of problems with ‘travellers’. Good phone signal; limited tv.

  • 5/5

Stayed here for a night. £7 a bargain. lovely walk next to the river into the village. Had a peaceful night

  • 4/5

Very nice area, quiet on the evenings, a walk up to the black rocks is a must, toilets locked on the evening and there is a height restriction bar moved into place as we were leaving on a Monday morning--the guy was nice enough to let us know.

  • 5/5

Quiet parking spot during September/October. Spent two nights here free overnight and inexpensive during the day. Nice walks along the Canal and nice picnic area.Toilets/Disabled and baby changing facilities Radar key needed. Very nice spot.

  • 5/5

Nice parking spot great for campervans/ motorhomes Very quiet Picnic area reasonable parking fee £7 All day lesser charges for shorter stays free to park overnight Toilets,Baby changing facilties Disabled Shower available in the mill toilet all in all a pleasant overnight parking spot not many people around at night bonus

  • 5/5

Stayed one last summer. Perfect for our needs. Nice canal walk and picnic area.

  • 5/5

    Quiet and peaceful!

  • 5/5

Stayed a few different nights now, in the week and on the weekend. Quiet, chill. Toilets sometimes open, sometimes not. You might get noisy people in the car park the other side of the wall, but not really a big deal.

  • 5/5

Stayed on the car park opposite the rugby club for one night, arrived and were the only people there and paid £7 for overnight parking. Very quiet site, secluded and not visible from the road. Nice walk walking the river that was behind the car lark too. No height restrictions

  • 2/5

2m height restriction. not suitable for motorhomes

  • 5/5

Stayed overnight on route up North, arrived 2100 to a well lit, quiet safe feeling car park. Despite it being Saturday night, there was no noise or people about, the only thing we saw were rabbits. In the morning we went to the canal side for a very short walk then, across the road up the side of the river. We paid 60p/hour after 0900 to stay, as a stopover this is superb.

  • 5/5

Stayed here for 2 nights with my wife in our VW. Can't recommend this site enough, it was very big, with plenty of room for us to feel isolated from the other 2-3 vans who were staying over night. the toilets were used by many people but were cleaned 1-2 times a day. Shower was lovely, and only 3-4 minutes walk. Got very busy on Saturday with day trippers, but quietened down by around 7-8. We got lunch at the nearby cafe, and they allowed us to fill our small 10l water jug. Note that there are 2 adjacent carparks, we stayed in the bigger of the two, at the rugby club, and there were no issues. We paid for the day (£5) on the phone, and had a nice conversation with the parking attendant, who had no problem with us staying.

  • 4/5

Lovely quiet spot, near to town , great walks recommend

  • 5/5

Very quiet no problems. Pay and display 0800 to 2000 summertime

  • 5/5

Lovely place to stay free overnight but don’t go in cricket ground car park just before as that is expensive!

  • 1/5

Having been woken at 1pm by high revving engines I looked out of the window to see what can only be described as a scene out of Fast and Furious !!! Three sets of car headlights in the centre of the car park pointing at our motorhome with the drivers repeatedly flooring the accelerator with the engines screaming!! Mmmmmm Tuesday night what is wrong with these youngsters!! Well moan over we sat there till 1:50am when they all departed!! Enough was enough. We were unsettled, 12 year old labrador on a broken nights sleep ???????? we left the site!! It's not lit’ too remote and we won’t be coming back. Choose carefully people ..........

  • 4/5

Très bien pour une nuit étape. Calme la nuit et agréable pour la soirée. Tables de pique-nique et sanitaires ouverts toute la nuit. Attention pas de lumière dans les toilettes la nuit.

  • 5/5

Stayed here 2 nights even with band playing at the Rugby club there were no problems. toilets meant to be locked at 10pm but left open all night even though lights go off at 9. Will use again when next in the area.

  • 1/5

Full of boy race at night not very good

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

    As described!

  • 5/5

Toilets are clean and open until 8-10pm in the summer. There is a cafe opposite with a canal running through. Gorgeous views. Plenty of bins. Not to be confused with the rugby club car park next door.
